{"id":4980,"date":"2019-04-18T08:42:12","date_gmt":"2019-04-18T04:42:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mbrsc.aud.edu\/MBRSCPost\/?p=4980"},"modified":"2019-04-18T09:30:55","modified_gmt":"2019-04-18T05:30:55","slug":"sikka-art-fair-celebrates-the-strength-of-nepali-women","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mbrsc.aud.edu\/MBRSCPost\/sikka-art-fair-celebrates-the-strength-of-nepali-women\/","title":{"rendered":"Emirati Photographer Celebrates the Strength of Nepali Women"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Emirati amateur photographer, Mona Al Tamimi, gave tribute to Nepali women with her photo project titled \u201cThe Sacrifice of a Woman,\u201d showcased at Sikka Art Fair last month, in Bur Dubai. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al Tamimi, who is also a traveller, went to Nepal on an adventurous quest and ended up stumbling upon a community of women who develop their own societies in a village names Bungmati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mbrsc.aud.edu\/MBRSCPost\/wp-content\/uploads\/Hauwa.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4982\" width=\"335\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mbrsc.aud.edu\/MBRSCPost\/wp-content\/uploads\/Hauwa.png 705w, https:\/\/mbrsc.aud.edu\/MBRSCPost\/wp-content\/uploads\/Hauwa-675x900.png 675w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 335px) 100vw, 335px\" \/><figcaption>Emirati photographer Mona Al Tamimi, March 2019 Photo: Hauwa Buhari-Abdullahi<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The women build their own houses, and farm\ntheir own food. Tamimi was, reportedly, instantly inspired to bring these women\nto the rest of the world through photography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Emirati photographer described each\npicture of the collection as having two sides; the light and the dark. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe dark side shows the struggle, it shows the hard work and the sacrifice of women\u2026 she\u2019s still smiling, there\u2019s hope inside of her even in the kind of conditions they work in,\u201d Al Tamimi told the MBRSC Post. The lighter part on the other hand, is the bright side of a woman which is represented by \u201ccare, the love of family, motherhood and affection,\u201d Al Tamimi adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al Tamimi uses photographs to tell a story\nand highlight the importance of women in the society. \u201cI\u2019m very happy to see\nwomen finally being represented as the strong beings that they are. It\u2019s\namazing to see that these women are actually building societies by themselves-\nbrick by brick,\u201d Maryam Inuwa, a blogger, told the MBRSC Post. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mona Al Tamimi\ncontinues to use travel and photography to capture, and spread messages to the\nworld.
