The second edition of Dubai’s Government Games, an initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will be held April 3-6 at Kite Beach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cInvitations have also been extended to governments in other emirates as well as the U.A.E. Federal Government and selected international government entities,\u201d according to the official website of the Government Games.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants have to be working in the government. Among the teams competing in the Games this year are Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the U.S. Government.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The goal is to successfully complete challenges to win the grand prize of one million Emirati dirhams for one female team and one male team. The Games are meant to promote creative collaboration and reinforce team work among government employees.

The theme of this year\u2019s Games is the same as last year’s inaugural competition: \u201cOne Team, One Spirit.\u201d This theme reflects the Government of Dubai\u2019s initiatives, such as Dubai 30×30 fitness challenge, to encourage people to pursue active lifestyles and general wellbeing.

The details of the challenges for this year’s Games have not been made public yet.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere are nine grueling obstacles for the qualifying round and one major obstacle for the final round. Each obstacle is designed to test teams\u2019 capacities in several areas including strategy, collaboration, adaptability, mental agility, stamina, balance, strength and endurance. Each obstacle is completely unique and will push each team to its limits,\u201d according to the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last year, the winning male team was Sheikh Hamdan\u2019s team. While the prize for the female team was awarded to the U.S. Consulate General in Dubai.\u00a0

“The inaugural Gov Games was a tremendous success and served its purpose in testing the mental agility, fitness and teamwork of U.A.E. government employees, and their peers from around the world,\u201d Marwan Bin Eisa, Director of the Gov Games, told Gulf News.
