{"id":4556,"date":"2019-02-14T19:52:57","date_gmt":"2019-02-14T15:52:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mbrsc.aud.edu\/MBRSCPost\/?p=4556"},"modified":"2019-02-14T19:52:59","modified_gmt":"2019-02-14T15:52:59","slug":"a-night-of-songs-and-bonfires-to-remember-at-aud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mbrsc.aud.edu\/MBRSCPost\/a-night-of-songs-and-bonfires-to-remember-at-aud\/","title":{"rendered":"A night of songs and bonfires to remember at AUD"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Student Government Association is here again to save AUD students and\ninstructors from the monotonous routine of school work with a night out on\nE-lawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bonfire event started at 6:00 p.m., with a team of African drummers\nplaying exciting music such as Waka Waka by Shakira, to attract the crowd, and\nthen the bonfire was lit minutes later. The drummers called the students for a\ndance around the bonfire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to kick off the semester with a nice relaxing atmosphere for the\nstudents, and we wanted to give them an event where they weren\u2019t necessarily doing\na lot in terms of activities but instead they were relaxing and having a chance\nto mingle around with other students\u201d said Charles Kellen, the secretary of the\nStudent Government Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, the SGA asked for volunteers to come up and sing during the event.\nThe first person to come up was Dr. Amber Hendricks. \u201cDon\u2019t worry students I\nwon\u2019t be giving you a quiz today but instead I\u2019ll be singing to you all,\u201d said\nDr. Hendricks. She sang in a calm and soothing voice and her performance\nencouraged other students to sing, including Grace Stretch, a finance student\nat AUD.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone also enjoyed the food choices that were offered. Specifically, students enjoyed desserts from S\u2019mores that they can heat up at the bonfire. Salted Popcorn was also served by Dana Hachwa, the SGA Bookstore Manager.
