The Yard: Dubai’s Newest Hang-Out Spot

Tourists and residents seem to rarely be bored in Dubai. From malls, to the beach, to theme parks and more, there is always something fun to do and attractions being built. The newest must-see place is The Yard, a lakefront development connected to Last Exit D89 in Al Khawaneej.
Shops are still in the process of being opened, but the man-made lake has been finalized and open to the public who round up their friends and family over the weekend and crowd up in the 350,000 square foot development created by Meraas, the company which developed some of Dubai’s most visited places such as City Walk, La Mer, and, of course, Last Exit.
Though shops and restaurants are yet to open at The Yard, visitors can still grab a bite or a refreshing drink from one of the many food trucks at the Last Exit, which has had great success since its opening in 2017. The last exit has four different branches in the UAE and has gained a lot of attention through its western-like atmosphere, trendy food trucks, and aesthetic environment worthy of people’s latest Instagram posts.
From street-art murals, a lake view , a wishing well, and Dubai’s own rendition of the Love Lock bridge, The Yard is still worthy of a visit, though it is unfinished.
“I wasn’t quite aware of The Yard until I read a few posts about the new romantic spot. It’s located next the Khawaneej Last Exit making it the perfect spot to relax and hang out with your friends or family,” AUD student Dhara Bhatia said, as she visited the area last weekend.
“I loved the fact that they opened up their lock bridge in time for Valentines, giving couples, friends, or families a new way to celebrate their love”, she continued.
According to Meraas, The Yard will spread out over 2.8 million square feet and will include a farmers market, several shops, as well as both indoor and al-fresco eating options.
“I love Last Exit” said visitor Asma Abdulrahman, “the pictures I can take are beautiful, and I love photography. I can’t wait for the whole thing to be open, so I can visit with my friends, have dinner, and enjoy the view at The Yard”.
Whether you are in the mood to eat, make a promise with your partner, or just want to take pictures of the scenery, The Yard is the place to go. It has free parking too!
