Let’s Go Somewhere

From the creators of famed burger joints Salt and Parkers, comes the new Mediterranean fusion-style restaurant called Somewhere. Located at the chic new fashion extension in The Dubai Mall, the restaurant offers your favorite Lebanese dishes with a twist.
Food: 10/10 | An array of Mediterranean dishes are served at Somewhere, but all with a little something different about them. The menu ranges from appetizers and salads (including a hummus bar!) to fattehs and other mains as well as a variety of desserts. My friend and I went for lunch and ordered the following: Kubbah with Cheese, Lime Corn Salad, Beetroot Hummus, Truffle and Cheese Fries, and Chicken Ouzi (rice) with Puff Pastry, all to share. Everything was incredibly delicious, but our favorite was the Kubbah as the cheese gave it a tasty twist. The Beetroot Hummus was a nice change from regular Hummus, and the Chicken Ouzi was made particularly with the sauce that was poured over. For dessert, we opted for the Karak (tea with milk) French Toast and the Baklava Ice Cream Sandwich. The Karak French Toast was certainly a winner. Overall, we enjoyed the food and we look forward to going back to try out more dishes.
Service: 9/10 | Much like Salt and Parkers restaurants, Somewhere’s staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The nice waiters helped us decide what to order and were always readily available to serve us. The staff’s friendliness made us feel pleasantly welcomed and attended to. We were seated near a service door upon our entry, despite there being several other empty tables, which proved a small inconvenience. Still, after making a note of this to our waitress, we were quickly taken to a better table.
Atmosphere & Location: 7/10 | The atmosphere of the restaurant is quite lovely. The space is big and filled with photos taken by Instagram users from all over the world; it is their own personal “gallery”, according to our waiter. The white walls give the visitor a sense of ease and the large windows overlook the Dubai Fountain outside. There is plenty of indoor, outdoor, and mall seating options for the visitors to choose from. It is located inside The Dubai Mall’s new fashion extension, and so getting to the restaurant might be a bit tricky for those who don’t visit the mall often. Additionally, finding parking nearby is almost near impossible, so unless you’re willing to walk from a faraway parking, you must leave your car at the fashion extension’s valet, which is quite pricey. However, the food is worth it.
Price: 8/10 | My friend and I had ordered appetizers, a salad, mains, and dessert dishes with two drinks and paid a total of 300 dirhams. This casual eatery’s prices are justified and quite reasonable. It is worth noting, however, that the drinks listed are quite pricey and small – 30 dirhams for a small glass of watermelon or passion fruit mojito.
Overall, my friend and I enjoyed our delicious lunch at this new Mediterranean eatery located in The Dubai Mall. Surely, we went through the hassle of having to find parking and look for the restaurant, but once we found it we were satisfied with the impeccable food, service, and atmosphere. I highly recommend eating at Somewhere if you like Lebanese cuisine and want to experience it with a twist.
