Disney in Dubai

On Sunday, February 26th, the world was awed by the Dubai Miracle Garden world’s tallest floral structure of mickey mouse, a structure created to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Disney’s first character.
Mickey mouse figure broke the world-setting structure record. It stands at 18 meters long consisting of 100,000 flowers weighing 35 tonnes which earned Dubai Miracle Garden the Guinness world record award for the tallest topiary supported sculpture.
Abdul Nasser Rahal, the sculptor of the world’s tallest floral structure and an engineer, shared the process of building a world class attraction. “We used 10 tonnes of steel and 100,000 plants hence we employed over 100 workers, engineers, and designer with 50 tonnes of concrete foundation,” he said to Gulf News.
In accordance with deal between Dubai Miracle Garden and Walt Disney company” “six more Disney figures” will be introduced in November when the garden reopens for the winter season. Visitors will able to experience the feeling of “local Disney” for several more weeks before the upcoming summer season when the garden closes only to reopen during the next winter season.
As Chafic Najia, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Walts Disney company Ltd stated, ”Mickey Mouse is one of The world’s most iconic and beloved character.” He also added that they are “proud to be able to celebrate such a unique touch point at the Dubai Miracle Garden with UAE residents and visitors and enable them to connect with Disney and our character.”
“I can’t wait for the next figures to be introduced, it gave residents in Dubai a feeling of Disneyland without leaving the country” stated Marwa Moataz a student in American University in Dubai.
Other than this award, Dubai Miracle Garden has been awarded 2 other Guinness world records for ‘largest vertical garden in the world’ and ‘largest floral installation’.
“I think that will attract many visitors. Personally I would like to go with my family there during the holidays” stated Fadil Abdelrahman, a Dubai resident.
“Miracle Garden is such an amazing place to visit with family and your loved ones to spend time with nature and get a break from technology,” stated Reem Saeed, a student in the American University in Dubai.
Dubai Miracle Garden, located in Barsha south 3, welcomes its guest warmly at 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on weekdays and 9:00 am to 11:00 pm on Friday and Saturday. Entry fee of 45 DHS for adults and 35 DHS for children age between 3-12 must be paid to access the park. Entry is free for infants (under 2) and people with disabilities.
