AUD Launches New Program for Social Media Influencers

The Dubai Press Club reached an agreement with AUD’s communication department to develop a Social Media Influencer Diploma Program, the first of its kind in the Middle East. The program will be launched in the second quarter of this year, according to the MBRSC newsletter.
The eight-month program aims to equip influencers with technical skills that will enhance digital content production, according to Dr. Jihad Nader, vice president of institutional advancement and development at AUD.
“The digital world is more connected today than it ever was before,” said Dr. Nader, on the sidelines of the Arab Social Media Influencers Summit as stated in the AUD email announcement. “Social media platforms shape public opinions and impressions, which is why influencers must be guided.”
Graduates from the new program will cover social media marketing, creative video content, fact-checking and its importance, metrics and branding, according to the newsletter. Students will be asked to set a goal: economic, social or social that they want to influence their viewers on or bring awareness about. Once that goal is set, the program will help them achieve it with the right tools and techniques.
The DPC announced during the summit that they will select 100 U.A.E.-based social media influencers – in batches of 20 – who will take six courses over two semesters. The participants must have at least a Bachelor’s degree, along with a good command of English and social media literacy.
